Battlefield 3 PC Server R12 will be released on Tuesday 13 December 2012. The exact timing to be confirmed; I will update this post once it is confirmed.

Electronic Arts reports that they will have a downtime for the master servers. The Ranked server Providers (RSPs) will begin updating their game servers at this point. Those admins which have had their servers updated to R12 can then add the Back to Karkand maps to the map rotation.

Electronic Arts says there will not be any client update - all that was taken care of last week with the 4gig patch released on the 6th of December.

Changelog for this server patch:
* General crashfixes
* Fixed problem where kits would remain on the level for a long time (>10 minutes); this would eventually make the server keel over
* The Back to Karkand maps are included

There will apparetly be two variations on the Conquest gamemode. The differences are mainly to do with the flags. You will see a "#2" after the map name for a server that runs the second Conquest variation.

Game servers will be able to mix and match Back 2 Karkand and non-Back 2 Karkand maps. Players who have not purchased Back 2 Karkand will be warned if they attempt to join a server with Back 2 Karkand maps in the rotation. Quickmatch will not send those players to servers with B2K maps in the rotation either. The guiding principle here is: if possible, avoid having people get kicked from servers.

Just a quick reminder on the maps that will be available to those who have access to Back 2 Karkand:

  1. Strike at Karkand
  2. Gulf of Oman
  3. Sharqi Peninsula
  4. Wake Island (the one most players are waiting for)

Keep an eye on this blog, iwill update as soon as I have more information.

Hey guys,

For those of you that would rather (like me) kill the works cap than yours at home. I've come across this while searching for a an easier way to update for em to get the updates out here on the tin can. I will copy and paste all of the stuff here while linking back to the original website.

After seeing much ranting on the forum about EA’s automated download system.  I decided I would test to see if you could manually apply the patch to Battlefield 3

The following thread I made on the EA Forums to help people out

http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/forum/threadview/2832654347782985231/

The following URL is for the recent 3.8GB patch released on the 6th of Dec 2011

http://falcon-webserver.no-ip.org/BF3patch/Battlefield3-6-12-2011-patch.rar

Filesize – 80% compression – 3.12GB / 3,278,464KB

HTTP resumable downloads are supported if your client is capable.

If you require winrar, please visit http://www.rarlabs.com/download.htm and select the language and operating system version that applies to you.

The download has been compressed using winrar to reduce the file size and make it 20% smaller than the original patch size.

How to manually patch Battlefield 3 ;

Locate your BF3 install directory, Backup the Update folder

In my case this was – C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 3\Update **this may be different on your PC**

Download the manual patch file from

http://falcon-webserver.no-ip.org/BF3patch/Battlefield3-6-12-2011-patch.rar

Extract the above file to the install directory of BF3

In my case this was – C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 3\Update

If you installed BF3 to an alternate location, please extract to the Update folder inside that directoryHigh light both directories in the .rar file, then select Extract To

Select the required location you installed the game, yours may differ from the screenshot below

You will be required to over-write the current content in this folder (I ADVISE TO ALWAYS TAKE A BACKUP OF THE OLD CONTENT)

Once extracted, CLOSE and RESTART Origin

Two things can happen once this is extracted and Origin is restarted

Origin will automatically detect the new content and update the game as neccesary, this can take time on some slower computers

ONLY USE THE BELOW PART OF THE GUIDE IF ORIGIN DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY DO ITS FO-SHIZZLE

Origin will require manual intervention to give it a nudge, to do this follow the below screenshot

(this can occur if you have a non english language pack, please follow below if you do, the repair will fix this automatically)

Right click Battlefield 3 and select Repair

I take no responsability for you messing up your own shit, I have tested this with the above method and it worked without issue for myself and many others on the BF3/EA forums
